Judge rules ICE illegally detained Chicago father whose daughter is battling cancer

In a short order late Friday, the judge ruled that Ruben Torres Maldonado must be given a bond hearing on or before Halloween.

The United States government's detention of Ruben Torres Maldonado, the Portage Park man arrested by federal immigration agents while his 16-year-old daughter, Ofelia, is undergoing cancer treatment, is illegal, a federal judge ruled.
