Heather Mack's ex-boyfriend flown to Chicago to face charges in Bali suitcase killing

After spending more than a decade in prison overseas, the former boyfriend of Heather Mack is set to appear in a Chicago courtroom on Thursday on conspiracy charges stemming from the infamous 2014 murder of Mack's mother at a Bali resort.

As we close out this year and look ahead to the new one, here's the best advice that readers of The Morning received this year. María Jesús Contreras Good advice The piece of wisdom I repeated the most this year came from a reader of The Morning who answered my call for advice last December: "We are all juggling so many balls. Differentiate between glass balls and rubber balls — and don't be afraid to drop the rubber balls." Everyone with whom I shared this little gem seemed to find it useful (or maybe they were humoring me?). I'm not sure why this particular advice stuck with me — really, it's just saying "learn to prioritize," a colorful riff on "don't sweat the small stuff."
