As the school year winds down this spring, let’s not talk about test scores. Let’s talk instead about what violence does to schools.

Violence tears at the fabric of a school community. Hyde Park knows this well.

We can’t lose sight of the difficult challenges schools face that are subjected to these tragedies and this kind of violence. Yet what gets measured at the end of the year are test scores, writes school administrator Jerald McNair.
